MNCPS Acc
Counsellor and Holistic Life Coach
My aim is to support you safely to help you find greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and healthier coping strategies, learning the tools necessary to move forward in your life.
I draw upon a broad range of therapeutic skills including Person-Centred, CBT, mindfulness and psychoeducation.
My own story
I started my own healing journey during my twenties when I suffered from post viral fatigue that affected both my physical and mental health. I engaged in counselling for the first time, finding it surprisingly freeing and insightful. I focused my limited physical energy in activity that I found beneficial. Having already practiced Karate as a child, I was drawn to Tai Chi and Seiki Soho (Japanese Body Work) which revolutionised the way I used my body and mind. I began to feel better emotionally and physically. Training as a Holistic Life Coach appealed to my curiosity working with the person as a whole, taking into consideration all aspects of their lives and individual self.
Counselling
I trained as a counsellor after working as a freelance mentor for the Firebird Trust, a Youth Support Worker, and as a Family Mentor for BRIC (formerly Homestart) where I realised I wanted to support peoples mental health on a deeper level.
I believe that maintaining good mental health is a continuous journey as life has a habit of taking turns in unexpected directions. Having the tools and curiosity to navigate these times really helps foster this.
Several decades later I have returned to Karate, a bit rusty, and although I can't kick as high as I used to, I still enjoy the benefit for my mind and body.
